Project Bio Max Quick Switch
Supported by EMDA
(East Midlands Development Agency)

In January 2008 we qualified for a development grant from EMDA.
The project is to design and manufacture a Two Stroke Engine, that has the capability to run on petrol and Bio Fuel (ethanol based) without having to change the engine setup. Different fuels will be tried from petrol, petrol ethanol blends, and 100% ethanol.

Using this alternative fuel technology should help to save this very efficient engine. As the closer we get to running on 100% ethanol the cleaner and more environmentally friendly the fuel and exhaust emissions become.
Tests so far have been very promising. The Two Stroke engine and Ethanol were made for each other, the fuel helps to cool the engine and works well with the supercharging effect of the power pipe.
We are also using an oil which is biodegradable, so any un-burnt fuel or oil will breakdown, rather than pollute as petrol and synthetic oils do.

All the engine parts are made from billet aluminium, no castings are used.
This gives the engine a more rigid set-up and the alignment of bearings and shafts is greatly improved. With this combination the engine runs very free, compared to a standard cast crankcase.

The engine will take the Honda RS125 gearbox, and will fit in any Honda RS125 chasse.
